The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) produces books and magazines on digital tapes and in braille, and loans them to eligible readers.
If you are not able to enjoy books or magazines because you cannot see well enough to read conventional print or because a physical disability prevents you from handling printed materials, you may wish to take advantage of a FREE service from the Library of Congress. The books are sent to you and returned to the lending library by postage free mail. The lending library for Richland County is the Ohio Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled (OLBPD). The books and magazines are recorded at slower than conventional speeds, so you need special digital players to use them.
You can apply for this FREE service in the Media (AV) Services Department at the Main Library or at any branch location. For more information, call Media (AV) Services at 419.521.3120.
