North End Community Improvement Collaborative –  The mission of The North End Collaborative, Inc. is to improve the quality of life and economic landscape of the North End Community, through vibrant initiatives and programs.

AALI – African American Leadership Initiative – “AALI is a new initiative brought to you by the North End Community Improvement Collaborative…in serving Mansfield’s diverse population, we realized that many of the assets of the African American community were unrecognized. It is our goal, through AALI, to recognize and connect those assets, encourage leadership development, and support residents in building a network that will ensure success.”

Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC) – “The MBAC and Division works with entrepreneurs, and emerging business enterprises to help them achieve, scale, and market success.”

Opposing Viewpoints in Context – Explore both sides of a wide range of important social issues.  Presenting issues in a pro-and-con format, this database provides an ideal reference source for everything from social studies projects to debate preparation.

Points of View Reference Center – Containing resources that present multiple sides of an issue, this database provides the basis from which students can realize and develop persuasive arguments and essays, better understand controversial issues, and develop analytical thinking skills.

MasterFile Premier – Full text for nearly 1,700 periodicals covering general reference, business, health, education, general science, multicultural issues, and more. Also contains reference books, primary source documents, and an image collection.

Podcasts

Pod Save the People – analyzes social issues, culture and politics in hour-long episodes that often feature special guests.  An emblematic episode from last November is titled “No In Between,” where they talk to author and historian Ibram X. Kembi about how to be an anti-racist, also the title and subject of Kembi’s book.

1619 – An audio series on how slavery has transformed America, connecting past and present through the oldest form of storytelling.

CodeSwitch – Launched in 2016, this weekly show from National Public Radio (NPR) is a pioneer of the podcast platform and features a revolving door of journalists of color sharing their thoughts on race in America from every angle.
