Summer Library Program

"Make a Splash... Read!" is the theme for the children's Summer Library Program this year.  The program begins June 7 and runs to July 31.  We have lots of fun programs planned for children and four special performers will entertain durning the summer.  Children of all ages babies to school age are welcome to join.  Of course, the most important part of the Summer Library Program is the reading.  Children who complete the Summer Library Program will have read at least 8 3/4 hours and visited the Library during 5 weeks of the eight-week program. Children who complete the program will earn a free book.

A study by the Evaluation and Training Institute found that "students participating in a summer reading program are more likely to read at their grade level or above than their nonparticipating peers, and those reading above grade level are more likely to retain those skills into the next school year." (SLJ 2/02)

Teens have their own program with the theme "Make Waves at Your Library".   Teens who read 1000 pages during the eight-week program will earn an $8.00 gift card to Target and get a chance to win an ipod.

Adults are also encouraged to join the Summer Library Program.  "Water Your Mind...Read!" is the theme and adults who read can get a chance weekly to win prizes.

Assignment Alert

Help us help your students

To give your students the best chance for completing an assignment, please help us give your students the best possible service.

  • Let us know before you give a library assignment. You can use the Assignment Alert form on our web site, or give us a call.  If we have advance notice, we can make more materials available for students.
  • Check out the library before you give an assignment to make sure that information needed is available. Ask for a reserve shelf when a large number of students need to use the same materials.
  • Give students a choice of topics.

If they are looking for a variety of subjects, students have a better chance of finding what they need. If we work together, your students will be able to get what they need at the library.
