The Belgariad Series
by David Eddings
The Belgariad is a delightful tale told by David Eddings in a magical world. Filled with suspense, surprising twists, deceit, and diplomacy, The Belgariad is sure to keep readers on the edge of their seats. Garion, a young orphaned farm boy, is whisked away from Faldor’s farm by his Aunt Pol, the farmer’s cook, and the mysterious storyteller, Mr. Wolf. Garion soon discovers that the world isn’t as simple as he thought. The Orb of Aldur has been stolen from the hall of the Rivan King by a disciple of the evil god, Torak. The Orb was stolen once before by Torak and he brought terrible destruction upon the world. Only the ancient sorcerer, Belgarath, his daughter, Polgara, and Brand, warder of Riva were able to bring peace to the world again. So what could a storyteller, a cook, and a young boy do to help the world? (A lot more than you would think.) During this exciting tale, readers will learn of their unclear quest and many colorful companions. Anyone who likes Eragon will find this series delightful. I give it 5 stars!
